Principal's Message

Welcome to West Elementary!

My name is Amy Moss, and I am truly honored and excited to serve as the principal of West Elementary. Returning to elementary education feels like coming home, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a caring and supportive school community.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and later completed master's degrees in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University, as well as Curriculum Specialist and School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While I value the education and training that prepared me for this role, it is the relationships I have built with students, families, and educators over the past 28 years that have shaped me the most.

Throughout my career, I have been blessed to serve as an elementary teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the Kings Mountain school community. Each experience has reinforced my belief that every child deserves to be known, loved, challenged, and celebrated. I am incredibly excited to begin this new chapter at West Elementary and to partner with our amazing students, families, staff, and community.

At West, we believe in setting high expectations, inspiring academic excellence, and helping every child grow into a kind, compassionate, and confident learner. We know that the strongest schools are built through meaningful partnerships with families and the community, and I am thankful for the support and involvement that make West such a special place.

My promise to you is to lead with an open heart, listen carefully, and always keep what is best for our students at the center of every decision. Together, we will continue building a school where every child feels welcomed, valued, safe, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
